Due to the siege, malnutrition and lack of medicine, my mother was admitted to the hospital and stayed there for several days in northern Gaza. When the latest escalation began, she asked to leave the hospital and sought refuge in our relatives’ house, which she thought was safe. However, the neighborhood she fled to was subjected to heavy Israeli shelling, which forced her to flee again, until my colleague, Mohammed Shaheen, a correspondent for Al Jazeera Mubasher, came across her and conducted this interview with her.
